One of the most memorable things about Pennsic War is the many picturesque gates that get constructed year after year. This was the gate for Ironwolf, located on the Serengeti, one of the nicest and most "rustic" entryways to be found on site. Believe it or not, the whole thing simply bolts together, for easy(?) setup and tear-down.

This one was Midrealm Royal's gate at Pennsic XXII, and was designed by Duke Syr Dag (a graphic artist by trade). It took almost the whole two weeks to finish the assembly and painting of the gate and the dragon's tail which had the effect of encircling the whole courtyard. The doors were made to slide sideways, which although probably not "period" had a neat effect. (Thanks to Onami for info about the gate.)
The gate for Trimaris Royal Encampment has a traditional scenic spot near the lake. For several years the gate underwent many revisions; this picture is from about four years ago.

Photos of the merchants area. Merchants are required to have "all period" selling pavilions.

This beautifully designed house used a real thatched roof

but it took very close inspection to reveal that the walls were no more than painted sheets!

Photos of Cooper Lake and the Serengeti areas. The view across the lake was taken from the southwest corner, not far from Trimarian Royal.
